o Under the US$1.36 million project, UNDP will work with enterprises and other stakeholders in eight countries - EU members Bulgaria, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland and Slovak Republic, as well as in candidate countries Croatia, Macedonia, and Turkey.
o The project is expected to continue until mid-2008
o A report containing a baseline study of CSR activities to date in the region as well as examples of good practices, tools and recommendations will be presented at a regional conference planned for mid-2007.

§ The main objective of this Project is to accelerate the implementation of CSR practices in the new EU Member States and candidate countries.

· Recently, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) launched a project on the Development of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Central and Eastern Europe, a regional programme, which aims at disseminating the concept of CSR and implementation practices throughout the CEE Region (focusing on small and medium sized enterprises) and forging a regional network of public and private partner institutions that will support SMEs to adopt CSR practices. This activity forms part of a series of conferences conducted in the region. Similar events will take place in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Romania.
